Reach Out and Read

UCHC is proud to be a certified “Reach Out and Read” site. Reach Out and Read is a national program that promotes literacy and reading readiness by bringing conversations about reading into the exam room during well child checks for children age 6 months to 5 years.

In addition to conversations about development and the importance of reading aloud to children, a new, age-appropriate book is given to the child for their personal library.

Find out more about Reach Out and Read here: http://www.reachoutandread.org

UCHC thanks the Bessie Minor Foundation and the Roseburg Altrusa for helping us with books for our Reach Out and Read program. We are always in need of donations of both new and gently used books (or, of course, funding to purchase them). For information on how to donate, please contact KGandy@umpquachc.org.
